How to See Waveforms in Questasim

Hello Verification Academy Forum,

Currently I’m using Questasim 10.0. I’ve generated dump.vcd file after simulation. But I’m not getting how to use this .vcd file to view the Waveform.

Could you please help in details how to do the waveform analysis in Questasim. What are the commands to open the gui window, how to and which files to load for waveform analysis.

Also I just want to know that whether Questasim supports .vcd files or I need to convert it into some other extensions for Waveform Analysis.

Questa has its own Waveform Log Format (*.wlf) file for waveform analysis. You can convert a VCD file into a WLF file, but the recommended flow is to write to this WLF file directly during simulation.

The Questasim User’s Manual has more information on this. See the chapters on “Recording Simulation Results” and “Waveform Analysis”.
