What is the significance of goal & weight in functional coverage calculation?
Achieving 100% functional coverage is not always a perfect science. Manipulating the goals and weights my help you to isolate problem areas. Assigning a weight of 0% is one way of excluding a coverpoint or covergroup from the total coverage calculation. A goal of less than 100% is like handicap scoring.

Thanks Mr. Dave.
I tried finding coverage by giving different values to weight & goal. The point is clear when weight is 0 & 1, but not able to find how the coverage calculation is done when weight is other than 0 & 1 , and when goal is not 100.

The effect of the weight is described in section 19.11 Coverage computation of the 1800-2012 LRM.
The goal is tool specific and affects the way the reports are generated, sorted and filtered. It usually does not change the overall coverage computation.
